The longest-running photography event in Southeast Asia, the Angkor Photo Festival & Workshops is a free international platform and educational resource for established and emerging photographers. Their organisation remains strongly committed to nurturing and promoting young Asian talent, and encouraging the development of photography in the region.
Their discoveries of both new and classic work are shared through evening projections and exhibitions, and the informal nature of our programme creates a welcoming atmosphere where open exchange thrives. Over the past decade, it has been rewarding for them to play a role in ushering some of the region’s best photographers onto the international stage, creating greater exposure for their work and the issues they cover. As more festivals emerge in the region, their emphasis on education has become an increasingly critical part of what they do. Their annual series of workshops provides the region’s emerging talent with first-hand training and invaluable career advice, addressing the lack of affordable and accessible opportunities for young Asian photographers to take their craft to the next level. It is heartening and humbling to witness workshop alumni return each year to become mentors and teachers themselves, bringing in fresh ideas and new perspectives to adapt to an ever-changing industry. This organic exchange has helped them evolve into a self-sustaining venture that is more of a home than an institution, and a place where emerging talent, international professionals, and photography enthusiasts come together to forge enduring relationships. The Angkor Photo Association is a non-profit cultural association registered under 1901 Law in France. All our events are free to attend, and open to the public. |
Submissions |
They invite you to submit your work for selection of the Festival Programme of the 12th Angkor Photo Festival & Workshops, to be held this year from 3rd – 10th December 2016 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
For their 12th Edition, they continue to have two different submission categories. The ‘OPEN’ category, accepts work on all topics and issues, and the ‘THE IMPACT PROJECT’ seeks stories on individuals, groups, or small organizations working to make a difference. As the landscape of storytelling has been continually evolving in this digital age, they are also now open to receiving multimedia submissions for all categories. As Programme Coordinator Françoise Callier says: “When the right balance between photography, video and audio is found, the strength of the testimony can be further revealed in a more spirited way“. 2016 Submission Categories:
