Background
GAIT (Grooming Artistic Innovation and Talent) is a first-of-its-kind creative movement program in the country, built to bring out the creative potential of each child. The program uses dance and theatre techniques as a framework to explore storytelling, communication skills, self-expression and collaboration.

GAIT explores classical dance forms and physical theatre to use the face, body, and gestures to express an idea, an emotion or an image. This allows children to develop an innate understanding of rhythm, spatial awareness, body awareness and movement vocabulary. 

GAIT is a brand owned by Fitkids. FitKids is India’s largest K-12 educational service provider. Essentially, they are in the business of grooming 21st century life skills in children through the differentiated mediums of sports (Leapstart), creative movement (GAIT) and STEM (DiscoverEd). Each of these programmes/brands form SBU's under the Fitkids umbrella. They are ~500 employee organization with an operational footprint of 200,000 students in 150 schools across 46 cities and 11 states.
Role & Responsibilities
  • A GAIT Dance Education Specialist needs to understand the concept of creative movement and how it can be applied in education.
  • A typical day involves planning and delivering lessons to assigned classes in an engaging and interactive manner. Physical fitness routines and creative assignments are equally central to their programmes.
  • As a trainer, you will be responsible for inculcating GAIT protocol and techniques outlined in the curriculum. You will also be required to conduct assessments, and write reports and feedback for your classes.
  • ​Dance Education Specialists are also encouraged to conduct demos, participate in brainstorming sessions, and provide leadership and support to the teaching community at GAIT.

Prerequisites
  • Educators, teachers, managers, dance instructors/dance artistes who are passionate about working with children and believe in contributing to the education system. An ability to provide differentiated assistance to students and prior experience of working with children would be an asset.
  • Minimum qualification: Graduate. Preferably in Performing Arts (Dance, music, Theatre) Psychology, Yoga (Body Work), B Ed, M Ed. They will be more inclined to hire candidates who have illustrated an active participation in cultural/dance/theatre activities in college.
