Role & Responsibilities
​Scroll is building out its video team and is looking for talented designers to work alongside journalists to tell visually-stunning stories in videos spanning 45s to 3m. Designers will storyboard video concepts and use rich graphics, animations, illustrations, and other design techniques to bring stories to life.
​
Among other roles, the motion designer will be responsible for:
  • Collaborating with editors to breakdown the elements of a story, or a set of statistics, and recreating them in a visually engaging, mobile-first way.
  • Designing motion graphics that help to transforms individual elements of a story into a compelling, well-edited video
  • Matching motion to voice over files, and adding
  • Consistently iterating on the form and design elements to ensure our videos are as compelling as possible.
Prerequisites
Ideal candidates must demonstrate:
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant design experience
  • Outstanding design skills with experience in motion graphics, animation, and illustration
  • Excellent eye for detail, quality, and balance
  • Expertise in After Effects, Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop
  • A solid interest in explaining the news, and a passion for social media and vertical video storytelling
  • Ability to maintain brand aesthetics
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and the ability to work effectively under deadlines and to manage concurrent projects
