Background
|
Kanyaka Foundation is an initiative started by a team of a former Young India Fellow and a Gandhi Fellow. The Foundation's aim is to eradicate poverty by empowering women with education in rural areas of the country and in turn help these women lead the fight against poverty. It believes that education brings economic liberation, which in turn facilitates social liberation.
Kanyaka's current project ‘Gender Education Research Fellowship’ is a fellowship with a mix of based research and formulation of model policy. The fellowship will also take into consideration the capacity of a particular schools' stakeholders for gender education, based on outcomes. It will be launched in budget private schools. Kanyaka intends to replicate this model across other North Indian states in upcoming years. |
