Background
Kamalan is a bespoke travel company that curates culturally immersive experiences for travellers to India. They craft bespoke journeys for those who seek to discover the India of their imagination.
Roles & Responsibilities
The graphic designer will work on a variety of products and activities such as website, advertising, books, magazines, posters, product packaging, exhibitions and displays, corporate communications and corporate identity, i.e. giving organisations a visual 'brand'.
 
You will work to a brief agreed with the team and will develop creative ideas and concepts. The appropriate media and style must be chosen to meet objectives. The work demands creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry software and a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines. The intern may need to manage more than one design brief at a time. Typical activities include:

  • Discussing the business objectives and requirements of the job with the team
  • Estimating the time required to complete the work
  • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and developing interactive design
  • Using innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time
  • Presenting finalised ideas and concepts
  • Working with a range of media, including computer-aided design (CAD) and keeping up to date with emerging technologies
  • Proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality work
  • Demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches and working on layouts ready for print
  • Commissioning illustrators and photographers
  • Working as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, stylists, illustrators, other designers, account executives, web developers and marketing specialists
Prerequisites
Apart from technical and drawing skills, the candidate will need to show:
  • Passion and enthusiasm for design, with a creative flair and flexibility when working in a team
  • Excellent communication skills in order to interpret and negotiate briefs & good presentation skills with the confidence to explain ideas
  • Time management skills and the ability to cope with several projects at a time
  • Accuracy & attention to detail when finalising designs while at the same time openness to feedback and willingness to make changes to her/his designs
  • Technical knowledge on working with software in Adobe Creative Cloud

The candidate should have prior work experience in terms of internships/placement experiences - particularly in live projects. Candidates having references and evidence of work done would be preferred. Also, the candidate should have their work in portfolio form.
