Background

Khetify is trying to make ‘Farmville for Real’ by enabling urban customers with rooftops and balconies to effortlessly grow their own organic vegetables. It provides compost based, modular and portable 'khets' that are watered using an IoT enabled drip irrigation system (90% water reduction) that can be controlled remotely through your mobile phone. With Khetify's khet system, households can harvest around 300 kgs nutritious organic vegetables annually from just 200 sqft of terrace/balcony space.
Furthermore, Khetify's simplified farming techniques are being channelized to promote the consumption of traditional, homegrown, highly nutritious, vegetables like purslane, spinach and stevia. The team believes their system has the potential reconnect Urban India with agriculture and making a dent in lifestyle & deficiency diseases like anaemia, diabetes, osteoporosis and night blindness. Khetify is the brainchild of graduates from IIT Kharagpur, Ashoka University and NSIT, who are working under the guidance of industry stalwarts including the ex-Directors of Usha Martin Agro and MART. The team is an eclectic mixed bag of farmers, serial entrepreneurs, sustainability researchers and urban designers who are committed to change the way India consumes vegetables and fruits. |
