Background

GOONJ is turning the discarded and underutilized material in cities into a tool to bring ignored issues to light. They are talking about basic needs and converting them into resource for rural development, bringing communities together and making them aware of their own power, increasing people’s participation, changing mindsets and changing the present rural infrastructure. It is not about collecting and distributing old material. In cities, GOONJ is turning the age old tradition of giving old material as charity into regular & dignified giving. Having started with 67 garments, GOONJ now deals with over 1500 tonnes of material every year.

Role
|
Work involves a range of activities such as sorting, data entry to research, campaigns giving interns wide exposure to the day-to-day work of the organization. Interns can let them know of any specific skill they may have or any specific interest area in which he/she would like to be involved in.
