Majority of internship opportunities will be based in the central offices at Delhi or Mumbai, with travel to the field level. Potential locations for travel include Bihar, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Assam, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi or Mumbai.

Background
Pratham is an innovative learning organization created to improve the quality of education in India. As one of the largest non-governmental organizations in the country, Pratham focuses on high-quality, low-cost, and replicable interventions to address gaps in the education system. Established in 1995 to provide education to children in the slums of Mumbai, Pratham has grown both in scope and geographical coverage.

Roles & Responsibilites
Internship positions at Pratham offer young, motivated, energetic people the opportunity to be an integral part of Pratham’s work across the country. Pratham’s programs have areas that benefit from short-term support at various levels and in a variety of geographies. Some of the potential areas in which an Intern could be involved include:
  • Program tracking
  • Data Collection and Analysis
  • Program support including supporting Implementation teams in the field
  • Proposal creation and report writing for specific programs
  • Program documentation

Prerequisites
Required:
  • Prior work experience including management of work independently
  • Willingness to travel regularly and extensively in rural areas of India, with limited amenities
  • Ability to build rapport with people from various different academic, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to communicate in Hindi
  • Fluency and excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Self-motivation and pro-activeness
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail

Preferred:
  • Ability to communicate in one or more regional languages
  • Exposure to the non-profit sector through previous experience or otherwise
  • Coursework in international development or management
  • Experience living and working in a developing country

Compensation & Benefits
Travel expenses incurred for Pratham will be reimbursed. No additional perks/allowances.
