Background
This is an opportunity to join the social sphere and embark on a journey that will help you discover the change-maker in you. The I am in DNA of India – Milaap Fellowship Program is a unique opportunity, providing young professionals with a six-month fellowship to contribute to a cause and cover inspiring stories of change.

Milaap is India's leading crowd funding platform for personal and social causes. Our community of funders come from 120 countries across the world, having supported nearly 50,000 projects, impacting 200,000 lives across India.

I am in DNA of India is a Hyper Local news platform run by Zee Digital Corporation Limited. The platform focuses on stories of change makers, social entrepreneurs, local heroes, development issues, local-level civic and under-reported issues. The platform seeks to go back to the original form of community journalism that informs, empowers, educates and makes local bodies and constituency representatives accountable and accessible.

Accepted Fellows will be announced on May 31, 2016. Fellows will start with a five-day training  fromJuly 1- 7, 2016 at Milaap headquarters in Bangalore. Editors and writers from the I am in DNA of India and Milaap team will cover their models, the tools, the on-ground understanding of current projects and the resources fellows will need during the Fellowship Program and also impart relevant skills to maximize the time dedicated by fellows to this program. This will also give fellows an opportunity to meet and interact with the teams.

Role & Responsibilities
As a Fellow, your primary role will be to meet borrowers funded by Milaap, and tell their stories of grit, determination, learnings and successes to the world. You will spend six months in a small town in rural India, and write short, engaging and informative updates on each of the borrowers that you meet.

Your role would involve...
  • Review the loan profiles posted by Milaap's partner on the Loan Portal on a weekly basis, verify the information against the loan form, and write loan stories based on the available information.
  • Meet borrowers funded by Milaap on a weekly basis and write short Loan updates which will allow us and the Milaap donors to gauge the impact of the loan on the lives of the borrowers. Each update would need to be accompanied with a photograph of the borrower.
  • Interview borrowers to assess the impact of the loan, verify data, and gather information for Loan Updates through a randomly picked sample of borrowers, in order to ensure the credibility of the answers.
  • You will be our eyes and ears on the field. We encourage you to contribute to the Milaap Blog, at least once a month by writing posts on your observations, experience on the field, people you interact with, or general updates relating to micro-finance.
  • Train Field Partner staff on Milaap processes, policies and best practices, and on using the Loan portal where required. Observe, learn and document the Field Partner’s operations and their use of our Loan Portal, and make recommendations to make the processes and the entire exercise, if needed.
  • Train Field Partners to efficiently upload client profiles that are interesting, diverse and genuine.
