Background
|
The Green Batti Project is an initiative by Social Quotient.
Social Quotient uses modern technology, highly skilled human resources and efficient processes for problem solving - 3 elements much needed to create lasting and scaleable impact. Ever since the 2% CSR spend has been made mandatory, INR 15,000 crore+ capital has been made available to the development sector. However currently a large part of it is merely donated to NGOs or government funds which brings back little or no return to the company other than the statutory compliance. There are also issues of transparency, accountability, quality of impact etc in the latter case. By using a business driven approach to problem solving, they are able to deliver strong ROI to corporate funders in the form of opening up of new markets (especially rural/semi urban), brand building, customer acquisition and much more. This, also, enables an increase in the quality of impact as well as allows innovation. They believe this route will encourage companies, especially new age ones, to invest resources towards making a difference as they would see a compelling strategic benefit. Instead of simply donating money - their pitch is to build projects from scratch in areas relevant to the company's business domain. |
Role & Responsibilities
|
Manage The Green Batti Project - India's largest one-on-one mentoring program which pairs educated professionals with under-resourced youth. Often, children from under resourced communities lack positive adult relationships that offer them a refreshing perspective and unyielding motivation. These children are bound by their prevailing socio-economic conditions, without any exposure to what lies outside those bounds.
The Green Batti Project's mentoring curriculum focuses on 'employability' and 'adult life readiness' as its impact areas. Started in 2014, the program is currently closing its second mentoring cycle with presence in Mumbai & Ahmedabad. Pratham, Teach for India, The United Nations and Tata Institute for Social Sciences are some of their partners. |
