Background

Global Vision International (GVI) is a multi-award-winning social enterprise that runs conservation and community development programs around the world. Opportunities include-high impact volunteering from one week and up, internships for those looking for career development opportunities, challenges that allow a one week adventure all for a good cause and a range of programs for school groups and younger volunteers.

Formed in 1997 GVI has received over 20,000 participants since inception and continue to receive over 2000 participants every year. They have won numerous awards and vast majority of their participants describe the volunteering experience with them as life-changing, with over a 95% approval rating. From critical global initiatives to grassroots community issues, GVI empowers people to take action through education, cross cultural communication and life changing experiences.

Currently, the GVI team is looking for a hard-working team member to help manage GVIs Community Development programmes in Nepal.  This person will demonstrate a commitment to hands on community development work  through educational projects including Healthcare, Women’s Empowerment and Primary Teaching and be able to lead and support volunteers on these projects.  All work will be carried out collaboratively to manage our existing community projects as well as help develop new initiatives.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Be a positive and enthusiastic role model for our volunteers and support their learning
  • Continue and further develop our current projects
  • Maintain and support high Health and Safety standards
  • Manage volunteers as they work at or project sites
  • Develop positive relationships with our project partners
  • Contribute to our social media
  • Complete reports and other administrative tasks

Prerequisites
  • Proven interest and engagement in Education
  • Strong initiative
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and good problem solving abilities
  • Prepared to work long and flexible hours
Good to have but not required
  • Some Nepali language or experience travelling/living in Nepal would be an advantage
  • Experience in managing Health and Safety
  • Experience managing volunteers and community projects

  • This is an unpaid position with potential progression within GVI
  • Meals included
  • Accommodation included in a shared volunteer house
  • Work related in-country travel allowance
  • Visa expenses covered
