Background
Pratham is an innovative learning organization created to improve the quality of education in India. As one of the largest non-governmental organizations in the country, Pratham focuses on high-quality, low-cost, and replicable interventions to address gaps in the education system. Established in 1995 to provide education to children in the slums of Mumbai, Pratham has grown both in scope and geographical coverage.

Pratham Virtual Open School (openschoolsonline.org)  is a non-profit initiative implemented by Pratham and supported by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network. PVOS is at the cusp of innovative pedagogy and leading technology. It brings together the depth of Pratham’s extensive on ground experience and SDSN’s global outreach.

PVOS aims to develop and demonstrate a replicable and scalable model to improve the academic, and soft-skills of in-school and out-of school students at the upper-primary/secondary school level.

PVOS has Virtual Learning Centers in Medak District in Telangana and in Jaipur and vicinity blocks in Rajasthan. In- and Out- of School children attend these centers on a daily basis, and have access to individual laptops with internet access to interact with the online learning platform, and to learn from remote teachers from across India.

Currently in a “start-up” phase, PVOS has a small dynamic team with ample opportunities for learning and growth. We are looking for team-members who are self-starters and willing to wear multiple hats.

Roles & Responsibilites
The Project Manager will be responsible for all management and operational activities of the project, ranging from:
  • Working with the leadership team on the operational strategies and direction of the project
  • Liaison with government agencies and departments
  • Setting up Virtual Learning Centers as per the implementation plan – identifying schools, broadband vendors, installing laptops, hiring of Center facilitators, monitoring of Center activities
  • Regular field visits to ensure proper execution
  • Managing and mentoring field-staff to execute their day to day operations
  • Working with peer managers on monitoring of program activities
  • Working with the Content Manager to review and assess the content's usability, appropriateness, and efficacy Administrative duties related to accounting and reporting to donors

Prerequisites
  • Telugu speaking preferable
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience managing projects (education sector background preferred)
  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience and expertise with educational technology products will be a plus
