Background
Meraki is an education technology startup aiming to improve parental engagement in a child’s developmental process in low income communities.

The startup aims to create and disseminate relevant, easy to use and impactful information about child’s developmental requirements to their parents. This, will go a long way in empowering the parents to constructively participate in child’s development - at home and through schools; since they believe that nothing less than a collective effort is required to ensure all children get the childhood that they truly deserve (a great one!). 

Meraki’s team currently consists of professionals with extensive teaching,research - both quantitative and qualitative - and policy experience in the Indian education sector. The team also has strong academic backgrounds in policy and education from noted institutions (Harvard University and Indian Institute of Management - Bangalore) and have developed educational solutions for organizations such as J-Pal, Microsoft and Teach For India. 

Role & Responsibilities
The role of Research Intern (Health), is one of the most important ones to realize Meraki's vision of increased parental engagement in their child’s developmental process. In this role, the Research Intern will have two important responsibilities: assist in developing standards and objectives for health by creating in-depth content modules, conducting on-ground action research and gathering feedback for modules developed. These content modules will be utilized by mothers to understand and act on various facets of early child healthcare so as to ensure that all such requirements, of their children, are being met. Within this role, the Research Intern shall collaborate with the Operations Associate to gather real time feedback on modules developed through on-ground activities. The scope of the work is defined below.

​Principal Responsibilities include:

1. Research-Based Development of Health based curriculum modules:
  • Assist in conducting primary research related to healthcare
  • Conduct secondary research on best primary healthcare curriculums for children (less than 10 years of age) around the world
  • Aid and abet design and formulation of interactive, activity based modules for parents and children at home; in English and Hindi
  • Design effective, engaging activities related to the aforementioned content
  • Familiarize Operations Associates and community champions on the content developed to enable them to support families (especially mothers) better

2. Conduction of Action Research for Impact Assessment:
  • Help design Monitoring and Evaluation Framework (collecting, analyzing data) for assigned curriculum
  • Conduct on-ground research to test the efficacy of built modules

3. This is a full time opportunity for 2 months; but can be extended, both in terms of time and position within the organization, depending on the performance of the candidate.

Prerequisites
  • ​Research oriented mindset - on and off ground
  • Ability to present ideas clearly and logically
  • Excellent creative and technical writing skills
  • Competency in working with MS Office
  • Language Proficiency: Hindi and English
  • Bachelors or Masters’ degrees in Science preferred
