Background
|
The SBI Youth for India Fellowship was conceptualised to accelerate growth and development in the rural sector by bridging the urban-rural divide while transforming Fellows into caring citizens with a more holistic worldview. The Fellowship was launched on 1st March 2011, in partnership with three reputed NGOs. 27 fellows of the pilot batch were selected out of 4500 applications. After a review of its impact, the fellowship was scaled up and in September 2014, the second batch, comprising of 51 Fellows, started their fellowship work. Presently, the 3rd batch of 55 fellows are working at 30 locations across 12 states of the country. The alumni continue to be actively involved with the development sector.
SBI Youth for India fellowship programme has been initiated, funded and managed by the State Bank of India as a CSR activity , in partnership with reputed NGOs. It provides a framework for India's best young minds to join hands with rural communities, empathise with their struggles and connect with their aspirations. Fellowship Structure
|
Week 1-2: Orientation & Training: A carefully designed orientation and training programme sensitises fellows to the rural ethos, introduces them to rural project management techniques and equips them to handle the challenges they might face. It consists of both classroom sessions as well as field visits.

Week 3-6: Location Familiarization & Project Formulation:
This is the implementation period of the fellowship, where the Fellow shall attempt to achieve the defined milestones. Through regular feedback and 2 intermediate review workshops, fellows shall be provided with necessary guidance and support. Month 12-13: Documentation of Project Work, Handover, Valediction: At the end of the programme, fellows need to document their project work with the learning from the project. The Fellowship will conclude with a valediction and the award of a Certificate of completion. |
