#OneOfUs Blog
A collection of anecdotes by individuals, just like us, doing what they love
At 22, Pavithra Chari is the co-creator of the contemporary classical duo Shadow and Light, a student of Hindustani Classical Music under Smt. Shubha Mudgal, a music educator at Music Basti, a Bharatanatyam dancer trained under Ms. Kanaka Srinivasan and a UNESCO-certified expressive arts therapist. Inspired by the art she creates and children she teaches, Pavithra decided to pursue the performing arts full-time after her undergraduate studies in Psychology from Lady Shri Ram College. Despite the numerous challenges faced in the competitive music industry, Pavithra has held her own. She’s collaborated with artists such as Karsh Kale and her band, Shadow and Light, has been recognized as ‘The Best Pop Artist 2016’ at the Radio City Freedom Awards. Her approach to each of her creative projects is similar to that of an entrepreneur working on a startup—she alone works on ideation, creation, production, marketing and branding which has not only helped her projects build momentum but has established her name as a strong contender in the industry.
Find out why she thinks self-belief is the key ingredient for others to fall in love with your art. (Watch till the end—we have a special treat for you). Follow your heart and find the right opportunities in fields you're passionate about — in the arts, writing, design, music and more.
