Moments that have shaped Mallika Agrawal's career as a wedding planner

"The first memory I have of really knowing what I wanted to do in life is after watching ‘The Wedding Planner’ in 2001, at the age of 11. I have always been a hopeless romantic and believed in “happily ever after”; so as soon as I graduated from college, I spent a couple of years working for event planning and wedding décor companies. In April 2013, I took up my first independent project as a freelance wedding planner.

Over three wedding seasons and about thirty weddings later, what started off as a solo endeavour is now formally known as Panodrama Events. Our core team comprises of my sister Tulika, who is also my partner and two more lovely ladies – Kanika & Shweta. Our main forte is that we treat each wedding personally and really get to know the couple and the family before taking on a project.

Now working with clients from all over the world, I think what has really helped us grow in this industry is our honesty and sincerity towards our work, and of course, the fact that we try to have fun in the most stressful situations. We remain calm and positive through it all, something that I would suggest all young entrepreneurs to do!

Our most memorable wedding would be the one we planned in February 2015, for a beautiful couple. The bride was from Delhi and the groom from Germany, and right from the beginning, they made us feel like a part of the family. But the highlight was the couple including us in the ‘thank you’ speech they gave on their Sangeet night among their family and friends. This is what keeps us going."
